Project History
The “Shingwauk and Beyond: Survivor and Intergenerational Memories” project was created to increase access to Indigenous documentary heritage of Northern Ontario by documenting the lives of Shingwauk Survivors beyond their experiences in Residential School. The Shingwauk and Beyond project was carried out by Living History Algoma in partnership with the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre from 2020-2022. During this time, Hailey Buckley interviewed over 30 Survivor and intergenerational Survivors of Shingwauk about their lives.
